Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: March 29, 2026

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy establishes rules for accessing and using decisionandlaw.com (the "Site"). Violations may result in termination of access, legal action, DMCA takedowns, and reports to law enforcement if criminal activity is involved.

2. Prohibited Uses – Competitive Intelligence

You may not use the Site to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or automate extraction of bulk content, tool directory data, regulatory analysis, or metadata for competitive or commercial purposes
  • Build a competing directory of legal tech tools
  • Create alternative products based on our curated data
  • Reverse‑engineer our editorial process or selection criteria

3. Prohibited Uses – AI Training and Generative AI

You may not use Decision & Law content to:

  • Train language models (LLMs, GPT‑style models, including open‑source)
  • Fine‑tune models on our analyses or articles
  • Create embeddings of our content for vector databases
  • Validate or test AI models using our content
  • Feed our content to ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar tools for analysis or summarization
  • Generate synthetic summaries, paraphrases, or rewritten versions for commercial purposes

Exception: You may use AI tools for personal, non‑commercial purposes (e.g., summarizing an article for yourself) provided you do not republish the result.

4. Prohibited Uses – Commercial Resale and Republication

You may not republish, repackage, or resell Decision & Law content in:

  • Paid subscription services
  • Paywalled articles or reports
  • Paid courses or training materials
  • Paid consulting deliverables
  • Paid APIs or data products

5. Prohibited Uses – Impersonation and Misrepresentation

You may not:

  • Claim an affiliation or partnership with Decision & Law
  • Misrepresent Decision & Law as endorsing your product or service

6. Prohibited Uses – Harassment and Abuse

You may not:

  • Post hateful, defamatory, or harassing content
  • Harass our team via email or comments
  • Spam, flood, or disrupt the Site

7. Prohibited Uses – Technical Abuse

You may not:

  • Attempt to disable or disrupt the Site
  • Introduce viruses, malware, or harmful code
  • Conduct denial‑of‑service (DDoS) attacks
  • Exploit security vulnerabilities for gain

8. Acceptable Uses – What You Can Do

You may:

  • Read and access the Site for your own learning
  • Print articles for personal reference
  • Share links to articles on social media or in communications
  • Quote up to 150 words with proper attribution
  • Cite our analysis in your own writing (with credit)
  • Use content in internal training (non‑resale)
  • Use content in academic research papers (with proper citation)

9. Good Faith Exceptions

If you have written permission from Decision & Law to use content commercially or beyond the scope of this policy, that use is permitted.

10. Enforcement and Violations

If we detect violations:

  1. First violation: Written notice and opportunity to comply within 10 days
  2. Continued violation: Access suspension and legal notice
  3. Severe or repeated violation: Permanent termination, DMCA notices, legal action

You agree to indemnify Decision & Law from any claims arising from your violation of this Acceptable Use Policy.
